FusionStorm -- "Making Technology Work" -- is a leading, national provider of IT products, professional services, support contract services and 24x7 managed services for enterprises of all sizes. The company delivers complete solutions for system infrastructure, storage, networking, voice-over-IP, security, database, disaster recovery, managed hosting and remote managed services. FusionStorm offices include San Francisco (HQ), San Jose, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Las Vegas, Cincinnati, Boston and Chicago.
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, pre/post-sales, and implementation of infrastructure projects whether its Unified Communications, Data Center, or Security. This requires someone with a multi-faceted skill set and you would be handling multiple simultaneous sales, design, and installation projects. The Network Engineer is expected to act as a team member on large projects and primary engineer on point projects, providing technical project management and direction as assigned. The position is approximately 10% pre-sales support, 80% technical implementation and 10% assessment.
We have an immediate opening for a Senior Network Engineer in our downtown Manhattan office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Participates in high-level project discussions with Customers and FusionStorm employees.
o Designs network security in new and existing networks.
o Provide technical information to post engineers on Install & Configurations & Professional Services
o Provides critical review to other Engineer`s designs as needed.
o Implements security products including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and various other security products.
o Generates engineering requirements (including descriptions of requirements and solutions) for proposals.
o Obtains and maintains vendor engineering certifications required for service delivery.
o Provides networking, security consulting and engineering services that assure a high degree of Customer satisfaction.
o Works with the Account Management and the Project Management team to manage customer expectations, deliverables and satisfaction.
o Provides timely and accurate information regarding the above to: Customers, Other Engineers, Engineers from other FusionStorm Business Units, FusionStorm Account Mangers and Inside Sales Reps, FusionStorm Security Management, FusionStorm Project Managers (when a PM is required).
o May include remote administration and problem resolution of customer networks. If so, you may act as a Level 3 Support Engineer providing ongoing consulting and maintenance for FusionStorm`s Managed Services customers.
o Travel to support customer headquarters is estimated at 25-35%.
o Must also be able to work occasional weekends and on after-hours projects.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
o 5+ years experience as a Security and/or Network Engineer.
o Must have CCIE Certification OR comparable expertise and be currently studying and be able to pass the Cert exam within a six months of employment
o Must have Routing and Switching knowledge, including previous 6500, FWSM, CSM, Firewall, VPN and Wireless experience
o Excellent customer service and verbal/written communication skills.
o Extensive experience and certification in the Cisco, Check Point, Juniper, and/or StoneGate Security product suites is desired.
o Networking, network design and network security experience.
o Understanding of routing protocols and networking fundamentals.
o Knowledge and field experience of Routing and Switching knowledge, including previous experience with Cisco or Juniper stackable switches or chassis based with respective service modules, VPN and Wireless.
o Experience with a broad range of security products such as Firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, AV, VPNs, Authentication, Content Filtering, etc. in a variety of network implementations.
o Experience with business and functional requirements collection.
o Must have knowledge and field experience of Unified Communications knowledge, including Call Manager 4.x, 5.x or 6.x, Unity, UCCX, CCME & CUE, and PSTN Gateways
o Experience with large scale MPLS or Unified Communications deployments a plus
o Minimum Technical Certification: Cisco CCNP / CCVP / CCSP or Juniper JNCIS or equivalent experience; preference for CCIE or JNCIE
o Experience with architecture, design, and implementation of the following technologies: IP, ATM, Frame Relay, Gigabit Ethernet, VoIP, and Wireless-based technology.
o Ability to design enterprise network routing architectures using protocols such as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, RIP and static routes.
o Strong ability to troubleshoot complex multi-vendor network issues in the LAN and WAN networks.
o Knowledge of Quality of Service, IPSec, Multicast and load balancing techniques are also essential.
o Experience with Cisco Advanced Technologies such as WAAS, ACE, Nexus, NAC preferred.
o Experience with Juniper or Checkpoint security products preferred.
o Experience with Windows 2000/2003 and Exchange 2000/2003/2007 preferred.
o Experience with Riverbed and F5 preferred.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
o Excellent organizational skills with ability to team with others to develop and implement complex security projects.
o Solid analytical skills to troubleshoot high-level, complex and technical problems.
o Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with executives, engineers, sales people, vendors and peers.
o Time management and problem solving skills are essential.
o Must have strong work ethic, strive to satisfy customers, and possess ability to operate independently and timely with minor supervision.
o Ability to engage with customers, manufacturer partners, and internal sales and technical staff.
